300ml Biological Oxygen Demand Bottle (BOD)
Bottle for determining the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) of 300 ml capacity.
Made of high quality borosilicate glass, Class A, ASTM E-438 Type 1, graduated up to 250ml in 25ml intervals.
Specially designed container for determining the biological oxygen demand with a conical glass stopper which is interchangeable and prevents the ingress of air.
Includes pointed cap for easy removal of excess capacity.
Bottle for determining the Biological Oxygen Demand, BOD
The BOD bottle made of high quality glass that meets the specifications of type 1, Class A borosilicate glass, ASTM E-438. The stopper is solid glass.
The capacity of the bottle is 300 ml. Both the bottle and the cap are unnumbered.
It has a screen-printed white field for labelling. The neck of the container is bell-shaped to form a seal to prevent air ingress during incubation.
The BOD of a liquid is the amount of oxygen that microorganisms, especially bacteria (aerobic or facultative anaerobic: Pseudomonas, Escherichia, Acetobacter, Bacillius), fungi and plankton consume during the degradation of the organic substances contained in the sample. It is expressed in mg/l.
General properties of borosilicate glass 3.3
It's very good chemical resistance to water, salt solutions, acids, bases and organic solvents. It is only attacked by hydrofluoric acid and, at high temperatures, by strong bases and phosphoric acid.
Low coefficient of linear expansion.
Highly resistant to sudden temperature changes.
Cleaning by autoclaving.
