50ml Flat-bottomed Spherical Flask
Instrument for distillation and boiling processes, for uniform heating of the substances it contains, for mixing substances, among other uses. Its flat base provides stability for placement in stirring apparatus.
They can be used to make solutions, to contain them or to collect them. They are also used for chemical reactions in the laboratory, e.g. for mixing, dissolving, heating and cooling, or for other processes such as precipitation, distillation, or analysis.
It is a basic material for schools, colleges, and universities in the teaching of science education, especially in areas such as chemistry, biology, and physics:
• Container of substances for chemistry and physics experiments.
• Mixing substances for analytical and synthetic chemistry experiments.
• Distillation and separation of mixtures of substances.
• Biology experiments: in molecular and cell biology experiments.
It is made of borosilicate glass 3.3 according to DIN, ISO and USP standards and can be sterilised by autoclaving at 121ºC.
General properties of borosilicate glass 3.3
The glass is distinguished by its very good chemical resistance to water, salt solutions, acids, bases and organic solvents. It is only attacked by hydrofluoric acid and, at high temperatures, by strong bases and phosphoric acid.
It has a high thermal resistance, however, it does not withstand flame or direct fire. Heating plates or heat diffusers are required.
